Detection and Management of Abiotic Stresses in Wheat Using Remote Sensing Techniques
نویسنده
چکیده
Wheat is a photo-insensitive and thermosensitive long day plant. It requires cool climate during the early part of its growth. Temperature plays a dominant role for wheat production in India. Both the start and end of wheat crop season are limited by temperature regimes. Within the growing season itself, warmer temperature shortens the vegetative crop duration. Wheat grain yield and quality are also influenced by temperature regimes during different phases of crop growth. High temperature during early vegetative phase results in sparse tillering, poor vegetative growth and early heading; and during grain filling phase it leads to forced maturity (Reddy 2006). The IPCC (2014) has reported the globally averaged combined land and ocean surface temperature of 0.85°C over the period 1880 to 2012. The warming is more pronounced over land areas with a maximum increase over northern India. Increased concentrations of greenhouse gases and warming will have serious consequences like increased evaporation, uncertainty of International Journal of Current Microbiology and Applied Sciences ISSN: 2319-7706 Volume 6 Number 8 (2017) pp. 616-628 Journal homepage: http://www.ijcmas.com

Remote Monitoring of Wheat Streak Mosaic Progression Using Sub-Pixel Classification of Landsat 5 TM Imagery for Site Specific Disease Management in Winter Wheat
Wheat streak mosaic (WSM), caused by Wheat streak mosaic virus is a viral disease that affects wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), other grains, and numerous grasses over large geographical areas around the world. To improve disease management and crop production, it is essential to have adequate methods for monitoring disease epidemics at various scales and multiple times. Remote sensing has become ...
متن کاملEstimation of Actual Evapotranspiration, Water productivity, and Irrigation Efficiency of Wheat Fields in Surface and Sprinkler Irrigation Systems Using Remote Sensing
In arid and semi-arid regions, water resource management and optimization of applying irrigation water are particularly important. For optimization of applying irrigation water, the estimated values of actual evapotranspiration are necessary for avoiding excessive or inadequate applying water. The estimation of actual crop evapotranspiration is not possible in large areas using the traditional ...
متن کاملEstimation of Vegetation and Land Use Changes Using Remote Sensing Techniques and Geographical Information System (Case Study: Roodab Plain, Sabzevar City)
Land use may be regarded as one of the most important factors affecting theenvironment with respect to human activities. So far, destroying the rangelands andchanging them into the waste lands and poor rangelands has been proposed as the mostsignificant variations of land use done by human beings. This paper has been conducted toevaluate the variations of vegetation percentage and land uses in ...
متن کاملDetection of Land Use Changes for Thirty Years Using Remote Sensing and GIS (Case Study: Ardestan Area)
Due to the increase of changes in the land uses mainly resulting from humaninterferences, monitoring the changes and evaluating their trend and environmental effectsfor future planning and management are essential. In the present study, an attempt is madeto observe the changes which had occurred in Ardestan area during a period of 30 yearsusing some satellite images. Different kinds of data for...
متن کاملLand cover land use mapping and change detection analysis using geographic information system and remote sensing
Land cover/land use categories are relevant components in land management. Understanding how land cover/land use change over time is necessary to assess the consequences of humans and natural stressors on the earth’s environment and resources. The aim of the study was to map and monitor the spatial and temporal change in land cover/land use for the periods of 1977, 1991 and 2016 and to predict ...
